
Posadas is the capital city of the Argentine Province of Misiones, located at the south of the Province, on the left-hand (western) shore of the Paraná River, opposite Encarnación, Paraguay. The city has an area of 965 km² and a population of around 260,000 inhabitants. There is a wide selection of hotels in Posadas as wel as other types of accommodations.
Posadas is the provincial centre of the government, culture and economy. Furniture, tobacco, food, textile, and construction are the most important industries. Other important economical activities are the commerce and services. Posadas is connected to the Paraguayan city of Encarnación by the San Roque González de Santa Cruz Bridge. The port, once of great economical importance, is used for sport vessels, carrier of passengers and some boats for sand transport.
The climate of the city is subtropical without dry season framed by an exuberant vegetation and a redish land. The annual average temperature is 25º C and in Summer higher temperatures are registered. The architecture presents old buildings that take you back to the time of jesuitical misions with romantic squares and churches fading into the river coast that provides the tourist with ideal places to relax. Visiting important museums and historical sites as well as going on tours or excursions in the surroundings are also among the activities to do.
